Nineb Lamassu
Nineb Lamassu is a dedicated peacebuilder, academic researcher, and development practitioner with extensive experience working in Iraq’s conflict-affected areas.
With a background in conflict transformation and participatory methodologies, Lamassu has served as a Peacebuilding Advisor to both International and National Non-Governmental Organisations (INGOs and NNGOs), and has managed multiple peacebuilding, social cohesion, and Prevention of Violent Extremism (PVE) initiatives across Iraq. He has also held senior leadership roles, including serving as Head of Programmes for local and international NGOs; and an Advisor for Iraqi mission of International NGOs.
Lamassu has led action research and Participatory Action Research (PAR) processes focused on peace and reconciliation across Iraq and in key areas such as Diyala, Anbar, Salah al-Din, Kirkuk, and Nineveh. His work bridges academic insight and community-driven solutions to address root causes of conflict and promote inclusive peacebuilding.
Educated at the University of Cambridge, Lamassu returned to his homeland with a clear mission: to contribute to the building of a just, inclusive, and pluralistic Iraq. He firmly believes that a better Iraq is not only possible, but already in the making through collective civic engagement and transformative peace efforts.
Hozan Abdallah Musa
Hozan Abdallah Musa brings extensive experience in programming and finance, having worked with both International Non-Governmental Organisations (INGOs) and National Non-Governmental Organisations (NNGOs) across Iraq.
Her professional background includes managing and supporting a wide range of development and humanitarian programmes with a focus on financial planning, grant management, and programme coordination. Hozan has contributed to strengthening operational systems and ensuring donor compliance, while also enhancing the efficiency and transparency of NGO financial operations.
In addition to her technical expertise, Hozan is committed to advancing inclusive development, particularly through programmes that promote women’s empowerment, youth leadership, and local peacebuilding. She has been instrumental in designing and implementing initiatives that support the resilience of vulnerable communities and promote the rights and inclusion of Iraq’s diverse ethno-religious groups.
As a member of the Board of Directors of the Sustainable Peace Foundation, Hozan advocates for strong institutional governance and the meaningful participation of marginalised voices in shaping Iraq’s future. She believes that long-term peace and sustainable recovery can only be realised through accountability, inclusivity, and locally driven solutions.
Ornina Henry Sargis
Ornina Henry Sargis holds a Master’s degree in Peace and Human Rights from the University of Dohuk (UoD), and she is a seasoned practitioner in peacebuilding, programme coordination, and financial management within Iraq’s NGO sector.
Ornina has built a distinguished career with both International (INGOs) and National NGOs (NNGOs), serving in roles such as Project Coordinator, Project Manager, and Finance Manager on humanitarian and development interventions. Her expertise spans financial planning, grant compliance, programme budgeting, and operational oversight.
Beginning her civic journey as a women and girls’ rights advocate and youth inclusion activist, Ornina has championed the rights of ethno-religious minorities in Iraq. Over time, she has deepened her impact by supporting youth engagement initiatives, promoting civic participation, and strengthening local civil society organisations.
Passionate about cultivating positive peace, Ornina is known for her unwavering dedication to inclusive governance, gender equality, and community empowerment. She believes that effective peacebuilding emerges from accountability, equitable citizen participation, and strategic partnerships that elevate marginalised voices.
As a member of the Board of Directors at the Sustainable Peace Foundation, she contributes strategic oversight and technical insight toward institutional governance, financial integrity, and sustainable programming. Her leadership reinforces SPF’s vision for transformative local development rooted in social cohesion and respect for diversity.
Baz Dinkha Shamoun
Baz Dinka Shamoun is an Iraqi-born documentary filmmaker and media professional originally from the Shikhan region. He holds a Master’s degree in Television and Film Journalism obtained in the former Czechoslovakia. After decades living in exile, Shamoun has gained extensive experience producing independent short films, working with multiple television networks across the Middle East, and leading impactful media projects reflecting minority communities and cultural heritage.
In 2010, he founded KIC Film Ltd., a Toronto-based film production company dedicated to creating socially conscious documentaries and supporting emerging talents through the Institute of Documentary Film. His work is known for amplifying voices from ethno-religious minorities in Iraq and broader diasporic communities, blending authentic storytelling with a focus on identity, displacement, and resilience.
